ISCI’s courses are designed with a systematic progression, while remains highly modular to meet each individual student’s needs and career pathway interests. Our Core, Concentration, Elective, and Project modules were developed to cover both breadth and depth, and ALL supported by one-on-one counseling sessions.


Core: The Essentials

Job Hunting Methodology

In this course, students will develop key job-hunting tools/skills: Resume, Cover Letter, Networking and Interview. This highly interactive course is taught by instructors with real-world experience and strong recruiter perspective.

Authentic Interview

The goal of this course is to prepare students for behavioral interviews and enable them to answer typical questions in an authentic yet compelling way, which would leave strong impression and maximize their chance to be accepted.

Self-Awareness & Development

This core course will focus on developing self–awareness through powerful tools and reflection. Understanding of individual drive and goals are critical for developing a successful long term global career journey.

 

Cross-Cultural Leadership

In this course students will develop a framework for leadership development that bridge both home and host countries’ social and cultural differences. Key leadership characteristics will be developed through individualized coaching.


Concentration: Industry Exploration

Accounting & Big Four

This course will show students what it is like to work in the Big Four and other financial service firms, and the personal & soft skills needed to work in this industry. Additionally, this course will cover hard skill sets such as accounting, audit, tax, advisory in a practical way.

Marketing and Business

Working directly with an expert in the field, students will learn about the major marketing firms, and the wide range of skills needed to be successful. This includes, but is not limited to advertising, communications, consumer behavior, and marketing strategy and research.

Data Science and Analytics

This course explores possible data science applications in different industries, and assist student choose a specific area (industry, job function, etc.) based on their background and interest, research open positions, and develop a plan for applying the selected position.

Finance & Investment Banking

The purpose of this course is to let students know the major players of finance & investment banking, and the personalities & soft skills that will be a necessity or a plus to work in this industry. Students will learn from an experienced investment banking industry veteran.

Computer Science Exploration

This course is for students considering a career in computer science. Working directly with a professional, students will gain knowledge of the skills and knowledge needed to enter the industry, an overview of the job market, current trends, and professional development resources available.

Management Consulting

Designed to provide an overview of the management consulting profession, this course focuses on the interpersonal skills and problem-solving frameworks through business cases. Instructor is a seasoned engagement manager at the top consulting firms.



Elective: Where Career & Culture Meet

Women Leadership

Learn about the importance of women’s leadership in decision-making from the classroom to the board room. This course focuses on the role of women in promoting team-oriented and collaborative environments and develop deep appreciation for diversity.

Sports & Career

Learn about the importance of sport as not only an exciting form of entertainment, but also as a key career tool. This course focuses on the role of sport in supporting corporate networking, marketing, and genuine connections in the job-search process.

Wine Culture & Career

A basic understanding of wine is viewed as a critical aspect of business etiquette. In this course you will explore facts about different wine regions, discover wine and food pairings, and review wine etiquette essentials.

Etiquette/Communication

This course teaches students the basic communication and English used in professional settings. The goal is to make students look and sound professional. Topics include: Email, gratitude, manners, and expressions in different settings.

Golf Culture & Career

This course explores the unique role that golf can play in developing your career. Discover why 90% of Fortune 500 CEO’s play golf and 80% of executives say that golf helped their career. Topics include: basics of golf, golf culture, and hands on experience.

Art Appreciation & Career

This experience-based course allows you to explore museums, art collections, and works that have had a profound impact on western society. Understanding the role of art will give you a sharp edge when it comes to intern and job search.

US History, Society, Civics 101

These are knowledge and skills that your US friends have but you don’t. This course provides students a brief overview of key topics in US history, geographic and societal basics, as well as political and governmental (local, state, federal) systems in the United States.

International Cuisine & Career

The United States is a melting pot of different languages, cultures, and cuisines. This course explores the role that food plays in sharing cultures, while giving students the chance to discover unique tastes across their city (Boston, NYC, NC).

 

Company Visits & Add-on Culture Experiences

Destination: Silicon Valley

(4-5 days) Interested in high tech and innovation? Travel to Silicon Valley to meet with different tech companies such as Google and Apple, experience wine country with vineyard visits, and learn about what makes the region so unique to business innovation.

Destination: North Carolina

(4-5 days) Research Triangle Park region is the hub for major technology and biotech companies such as IBM, Cisco, Apple, Google, Biogen, SAS, and Toyota. Charlotte is the second biggest finance centers with major banks such as Bank of America.

Diversity & Civil Rights

(4-5 days) Explore the role of civil rights within the United States, traveling to key areas of the Civil Rights Movement (1950s - 1960s) to learn the important history and struggle of those campaigning for equal rights. Experience will take place in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Art & Museums

(6-8 hrs) Experience every aspect of the performing arts in one of the most globally recognized scenes! Meet with actors, learn about the diverse management skills (financials, planning, etc.) required to run performances, and enjoy a live show.

Destination: New York City

(4-5 days) Finance, arts, fashion, design, trade… Big Apple is the global hub for many industries, also the desired internship and job destination for many international students. Join the visit to find out if this is a good place for you, and visit many top companies in the city.

Destination: Washington, D.C.

(4-5 days) Little do we know, norther Virginia hosts the Dulles Technology Corridor, which is also called the “Bullseye of American’s Internet”. Many top finance institutions, defense contractors are based here. Neighboring Mongomery county in Maryland is also base for many tech companies.

Humanity & American History

(4-5 days) Traveling to the capital of the United States, Washington D.C., explore the institutions and history that make up what the United States is today. Learn about its struggles and triumphs, through museum visits, expert speakers, and guided experiences.

Jewish Culture, Food, Career

(6-8 hours) Explore the rich history and culture of the Jewish faith in the US’ most populated city, New York City. Understand the culture from expert speakers, taste the cuisine, and learn about career success amongst an ethnic minority in the United States.

Destination: Greater Boston

(4-5 days) Boston is not only the home for top universities, but a magnet for top consulting firms, financial institutions, and leading technology and consumer product companies. Join us for a trip to explore its charm, and meet many professionals who call this city home.

Project: National Parks

(4-5 days) From the red rocks of Zion National Park to the granite cliffs of Yosemite National Park, experience the wonders of some of the most beautifully naturally preserved locations in the United States. Outdoor is a great classroom to develop leadership, empathy, and destress!

African American Culture

(6-8 hrs) Dive into African American history, cuisine, and music with tours in Harlem, Queens, and Brooklyn. Learn about the Harlem Renaissance and continued business development in one of the most diverse cities in the world.
